PICZO PARKOUR

To get Piczo out and about during the summer, I asked my friend Toby (above), Joe (below), and Tom (bottom) to freerun around the country handing out stickers and wristbands to any passing youngsters. Toby also did a marvellous job of editing the above video.

THE WORLD'S ONLY SEVEN STAR HOTEL - THE BURJ AL-ARAB

Yesterday I finally got to go up the Euston Tower (formerly known as Capital Tower), which stands 124m high, with 36 floors towering over central London.

As if that wasn't enough architectural excitement for the day, I was there to meet designers from Atkins, including internationally acclaimed architect Tom Wright, who designed the Burj al-Arab, the iconic luxury 7-star hotel in Dubai.

The Burj Al-Arab stands on an artificial island 280m from Jumeirah beach, connected to the mainland by a curving bridge. It was built to resemble the sail of a dhow, a type of Arabian vessel. Two "wings" spread in a V to form a vast "mast", while the space between them is enclosed in a massive atrium.

Tom Wright:"The client wanted a building that would become an iconic or symbolic statement for Dubai; this is very similar to Sydney with its Opera House, or Paris with the Eiffel Tower. It needed to be a building that would become synonymous with the name of the country."

PICZO & PENGUIN PARTNER

Asked to come up with ideas to bring Piczo's creative self-expression theme to life a month or so ago, I suggested that we talk to Penguin. After a meeting and a flurry of emails, I'm happy to say we launched our first campaign today.

This is a global competition to encourage Piczo community members to design their own covers for six Penguin classics, these will then be judged by musicians including Razorlight, Beck and Ryan Adams, all of whom have also designed their own My Penguin covers.

See the bands' designs and submit your own here, and read more about the project here, here and here.
