My interest in the Holocaust began while working on publicity for Steven Spielberg's Schindler's List. I have also learned a great deal from speaking to both Schindler Jews and Caroline Goodall who, through her role as Oskar's wife in the film, had forged a friendship with Emilie Schindler. I've put this site together as a photographic record of Auschwitz-Birkenau on the 60th anniversary of the camp's liberation. In January 2005 the pictures formed an exhibition called Auschwitz and Images of Nazism at the Art of Propaganda Gallery in the United Kingdom. The video below features Isabel Bayrakdarian singing to Gorecki's Symphony No. 3 - "Symphony of Sorrowful Songs" taken from Holocaust - A Music Memorial Film from Auschwitz, produced as a tribute and remembrance of those who were in the camp. Bill Hunt Soprano: Isabel Bayrakdarian, Sinfonietta Cracovia, conducted by John Axelrod. Taken from "HOLOCAUST - A Music Memorial Film from Auschwitz". |
